On April 12, 2021, the National Directorate of Registries of Nicaragua (DNR) issued Circular No. 007-2021 through which it communicated the recently implemented online consultation service that will facilitate individuals and entities, national or foreign, to consult if a corporation is active or inactive.

This search can be made by typing the Absolute Mercantile Number (NAM by its Spanish acronym) or the name or corporate name of the entity in this link,which will provide the following information:

1. Name or corporate name of the corporation
2. City in which it is registered
3. Absolute mercantile number
4. Active or inactive status

It will also allow to verify the availability of a company name before the incorporation and/or registration of a new company in Nicaragua.

The consultation of the active or inactive status of the corporations will not exempt them from the obligation to present the corresponding certificate issued by the Registry Offices of the whole country, which is covered by the legality and formalities established in the Law.
