Per the statement issued by the Presidency of the Judicial Organism, Agreement of the Supreme Court of Justice and before the national emergency, abiding by the state of calamity according to Decree 5-2020 of the Judicial Organism, the circular 38-2020 is issued in which It is agreed to suspend the activities of Judges and Magistrates at the national level from March 17 to March 31, 2020, except for Justices of the Peace and First Instance of Duty, Justices of the Peace with Criminal Jurisdiction, Rooms of the Court of Appeals and Criminal First Instance Judges for urgent investigative measures throughout the country.

By the foregoing, the Courts of First Instance will remain closed, no judicial hearings will be held, nor will briefs or requests be received. The computation of the legal terms and periods granted to individuals and judicial authorities in all matters and instances is suspended as of March 17, which will resume from the day after the end of the validity of the state of calamity agreement Government Decree 5-2020 approved by the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala.
