Nicaraguan Ministry of Health through its Department of Food Regulation will carry out surveillance of canned products, especially sardines and tunas, in February and March 2020.

As the high season of these products approaches, the Food Sanitary Surveillance Plan will be implemented and all distributors or manufacturers must provide samples to be analyzed according to the parameters of the institution. It is important to have availability for sampling, because if the company does not allow it, the authority can implement penalties ranging from fines to the cancellation of registration.

Inspectors take the opportunity to inspect the establishments and it is important to have all the documentation related to Sanitary Licenses updated and make sure that the establishment complies with the conditions under which it was granted.
